Nasal Breathing Surgery
Nasal breathing surgery is designed to address issues that make it difficult to breathe through the nose, helping you enjoy easier, more comfortable breathing. Common procedures include inferior turbinate reduction, which reduces the size of the turbinates—small structures inside the nose that can swell and block airflow. Another is septoplasty, which straightens a deviated septum, the wall of cartilage and bone that separates the nostrils. If enlarged septal swell bodies are contributing to obstruction, they can also be reduced to improve airflow. For some patients, nasal valve repair may be needed to support and strengthen the narrowest part of the nasal passage.
Sometimes, nasal breathing problems are linked to underlying sinus conditions like chronic sinus infections or significant blockages in the sinuses. In these cases, endoscopic sinus surgery may be performed alongside nasal breathing surgery. This minimally invasive procedure uses a small camera to open blocked sinus pathways, improving drainage and reducing inflammation. Both types of surgery complement each other, addressing both the nasal passages and the sinuses to provide long-lasting relief. These procedures can often be done either in the office or in an operating room, depending on your needs, ensuring a tailored approach to restoring your nasal and sinus health.
