How to Register

1. Sign up here. Webinar is April 6 @5PM PST.
2. Presentation starts at 5PM PST sharp. The “waiting room” will open at 4:40PM so that you can ensure that your connection and audio is working.
3. Use Zoom in your web browser or download app. TO GET THE FULL INTERPRETING EXPERIENCE, YOU WILL NEED TO USE THE APP.
4. Closed captioning will be provided within the Zoom app. Press the “CC” button towards the bottom of your screen. If you wish to see captions in a separate window, click on this Streamtext link.  You will need to arrange that window near the Zoom window.
5. ASL interpreting will be provided. You will need to “pin” their window. See figure above.
6. Q&A will be via the chat interface. Type your questions in the chat, and we will address as we go.

About the Speakers:

Dr. Chad Ruffin is an ear, nose, and throat doctor who specializes in hearing restoration and ear surgery. He communicates orally and is one of the first people born deaf to become a surgeon using cochlear implants. He performs cochlear implant and hearing restoration surgery and teaches his patients how to live to the fullest with hearing loss. In addition to treating patients in the clinic, he also researches and develops technology for hearing loss. Follow the latest updates via Twitter and Facebook.

Tina Childress, Au.D., CCC-A is an educational audiologist in mainstream and residential school settings, technology and social media aficionado, late-deafened adult fluent in ASL and a bilateral cochlear implant recipient. With her unique perspective and passion for sharing information through social media, she is an international presenter and motivational speaker for families, adults and professionals. Her expertise includes Hearing Assistance Technology, apps, cochlear implants, advocacy and effective strategies for coping with hearing loss. Dr. Childress is active on many local and national Boards and Committees where she is a strong advocate for accessibility (especially in the performing arts) and disseminating resources.
